Game of the Week, March 11 to March 17
Hi everyone,
It’s Monday again and time for the Game of the Week.
This week’s title is another change of pace to last weeks Wellington's Peninsular War.
The Game of the Week is Squad Battles Red Victory.
Red Victory is one of the most popular titles in the Squad Battles series.
This is the new 4.03.1 version and requires a clean installation. Version 4.03.1 is a Full Installer only, no patch from prior versions is available. If you already own this game, the latest game build is available now in your store account on the WDS website. You will have to uninstall any existing versions and then install the latest to be up to date. Any new purchases will automatically be the latest version.
Red Victory Is one of the most ambitious Squad Battles titles ever created. Özgür (Oz) Budak, is one of the most innovative Squad Battles scenario designers and he built nearly all of the included situations. This title was the follow-on to Squad Battles Advance of the Reich, which covered the 1941-1942 period on the Eastern Front. Red Victory covers many of the pivotal battles from 1943 to the fall of Berlin in 1945. There are 97 scenarios covering a range of actions as the Soviets pushed the invading Axis back to the west. Some example operations, many with multiple scenarios:
- Soviet amphibious operations at Novorossiysk
- The lifting of the siege at Leningrad
- The Third battle of Kharkov
- Manstein’s Backhand Blow
- Warsaw Ghetto
- The Battle of Kursk
- Mius River operations
- Operation Rumyantsev
- Dnepr River operations
- Korsun Pocket
- Partisan operations in Tito’s Yugoslavia
- Operation Bagration
- Operations in Poland
- The Battle of Budapest
- East Prussia
- Seelow Heights and the defence of the Oder River.
- The Battle of Berlin
Also included are three campaigns with multiple scenarios covering:
- Battle of Tali-Ihantala in Finland
- Operation Sudwind in Slovakia
- Battle for Tempelhof during the Fall of Berlin.
Red Victory includes the aforementioned playable scenarios, as well as a Getting Started and four Bootcamp scenarios to introduce new players to the game system. As listed, representative operations from February 1943 through to May 1945 are included with a good mix of small (company), medium (battalion) and large (regiment) engagements. You can read about all the included scenarios here as well as where in Europe they are here.
Included are 91 maps covering many locations in Eastern and Central Europe. The largest map of Kharkov city and environs contains over 86 thousand hexes at 40 meters per hex. 58 sub maps are also included.
91 Order of Battles cover the evolving 1943 to 1945 force mix for both the axis and Allied sides. The represented Allied forces include the Soviet, and Polish. The included Axis forces are the Germans, Hungarians, Rumanians, and Finns.

We hope you enjoy this week’s, Game of the Week. Like all WDS titles, there is a lot of game play included at a very attractive price.
Appreciate the related book recommendations as there are so many books on WWII and the Eastern Front.
Initially bought the HPS CD version of Red Victory back “in the day” and enjoying the generous (free) updates of the JTS releases over the years. My current version was circa 2012, but this latest release was well worth the $30 on the current sale with all the enhancements. An amazing game and so worth the “upgrade” to the WDS product. I hope that others “buy in” and support this game. Wishing you the success you so richly deserve!
Thank you!
That’s one fine scenario list.
