Back to sea we go, this time under the waves with Naval Campaigns: Wolfpack! This title will be on sale for 25% off normal pricing now through Sunday, February 9th.
The Battle for the Atlantic and Hitler's effort to cut off the lifeline of Great Britain is our focus with this title. Wolfpack covers the battles over that lifeline, not only from the perspective of the U-Boats, but also that of the escort commanders on their cold and lonely vigils in the North Atlantic.
Calm methodical actions as you seek out your prey will yield your best results. As a single sub or a gathered "wolfpack" you must find your targets, select the best ones, and bring home the attack. Conversely you can have nail-biting tension as you seek to protect the vulnerable merchant ships as they glide across the dark waters.
Can you bring down the transports that carried the very life blood of Britain? Can you keep the hunters of the sea away, and keep your charges safe?
If you haven't seen them before, here are a couple of movies that capture this conflict well:
This series features nine different zoom levels, easily cycled through with your wheel mouse, and two different User Interfaces – the "Alternative Interface" which is the default view, and the "Classic". You will see screen shots from both views in this post. (All images can be clicked for full-sized viewing.)
Wolfpack includes 50 scenarios covering all sizes and situations, including a solo tutorial scenario plus specialized versions for both head to head play and vs. the computer AI.
Included are battles from 1939 to 1945 in the Atlantic Ocean. A sampling would be:
Scapa Flow Numerous convoy attacks Actions along the US eastern seaboard
In addition to the stock scenarios, the game also includes three campaigns to choose from.
The campaigns add in 14 more scenarios. In the Random Campaign a pool of 10 scenarios are randomly pulled from with each play through so you never know exactly what force mix and situation you will get. Deployment boxes are also used in some scenarios to increase replayability.
The game ships with the following editors to make your own custom actions:
Scenario Editor
OOB Editor
Campaign Editor
Parameter Data Editor
In addition to the two movies mentioned previously, there's a variety of other good video content on the web to explore this theater of combat in WWII.
And then we have our book recommendations.
And now for a sampling of other in-game screen shots:
And that brings us to a close of our preview of Wolfpack. We hope you have enjoyed the various items shared.

Another good work is Peter Gretton’s Convoy Commander. He was good at describing the problems he faced. In particular Convoy ONS5, is a gripping tale.
