Napoleonic Battles 4.09.3 Updates, Part I
Today we bring you the beginning of the next update cycle for the Napoleonic series with the release of 4.09.3 for four games in the series:
- Campaign Austerlitz
- Campaign Wagram
- Campaign Waterloo
- The Final Struggle (Demo)
And actually, Campaign Eckmuhl was the first title updated, as it was Game of the Week on Monday - so it also has an update posted.
Note: It is safe to apply these updates to ongoing games.
Also, make sure to check out the new Ligny & Quatre Bras After Action Report posted today.
The catalyst for this round of updates was a rare crash bug triggered by selecting the bottom unit in a stack and ordering it to go into Extended Line. We don't like to let problems like this linger, so we have this new round. Our programmer who maintains this series is also a fan of it, and so he has added new functionality in as well.

As you can see from the above changelog, a few of these are pretty significant changes.
The "No Detached Melee" optional rule is a must-use for me, but it can be a challenge to keep all units within their Brigade commanders radius. Now higher ranks up the chain can assist with that. And you can have situations where a Corps commander cobbles together a force to act on situations of opportunity.
Cavalry Charges are of major significance, but it has always been unrealistic that they can plow through a town or forest during the continuation portion of the charge. Now there must be clear or field terrain to allow that.
And of further significance - Disordered units can no longer march up next to Cavalry in the open and unleash a barrage at point blank range. I'm sure that will take some adjusting to get used to for many veteran players.
Here's a few screen shots from the various games receiving an update.

The balance of the titles in this series are planned to receive updates in two blocks, over the next few weeks.
That concludes our preview of today's update. You can head on over to your Store Account to download your full new installers for the various games, or go to the Napoleonic Battles Support Page to grab the Updates.
And don't forget the Napoleonic Battles section of our forums where you can discuss the updates & games in general with others, or find opponents to play matches against.
Enjoy!
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Thanks for the bug fixes band the functionality updates. This series keep getting better all the time.
