Musket and Pike
Experience the Birth of Modern Warfare
The Musket & Pike series recreates the changing face of warfare from the Renaissance to the American Revolutionary War. Most battles are fought at a tactical scale of 100-meter hexes and 15-minute turns, with units generally representing infantry battalions, cavalry formations, and artillery batteries. Selected company-scale scenarios use 40-meter hexes and 5-minute turns to portray smaller actions in greater detail.
Command armies as weapons, formations, and battlefield doctrines evolve across more than three centuries. Lead pikemen and arquebusiers during the Italian Wars, coordinate cavalry and musketeers in the Thirty Years’ War, maneuver disciplined linear armies during the eighteenth century, or take command of British, Continental, French, and allied forces in the American Revolutionary War. Each title adapts the game system to the military practices of its period rather than treating the entire era as a single style of warfare.
Victory depends on maintaining command, morale, and formation while coordinating infantry, cavalry, artillery, and specialized troops. Choose when to deploy into line, form defensive blocks, advance in column, screen with skirmishers, or commit cavalry at the decisive moment.
Every title includes extensive documentation and powerful editors for creating and modifying scenarios and campaigns. New players can begin with our demo Vienna 1683, available free of charge.
