New Musket & Pike / Sword & Siege Updates

Musket & Pike and Sword & Siege updates

Today, we’re bringing you a new round of updates for the complete Musket & Pike and Sword & Siege series. Steam Workshop support is coming to the games on Steam, and these updates prepare the full series for its release. We’re bringing the games up to date on both Steam and the WDS website so the two versions stay aligned as it is possible to PBEM between the platforms. WDS direct downloads remain available as usual. Steam updates will go live approximately 5 PM EST.

Purchasing directly from the WDS Store helps support our continued work on these series. For titles also available on Steam, your WDS Store purchase includes a key in your Store Account, so you can add the game to your Steam library and use Steam features, including Workshop when it becomes available, while keeping access to your direct installer.

Most of the remaining changes are bug fixes and adjustments. As the games continue to develop, changes in one area can sometimes have unintended effects elsewhere in the engine. This round addresses several of those issues and includes updated documentation.

Musket & Pike 4.06.4.1

The update covers every game in the Musket & Pike series: American Revolutionary War, Thirty Years War, War of the Austrian Succession, etc.

Across the two series, this update cycle includes fixes for the SoLoud sound engine, AI Objective handling, indirect fire targeting, and a crash caused by a PDT file. The documentation has also been updated. Each title’s changelog lists its complete set of changes.

Sword & Siege 4.04.5.1

The Sword & Siege update covers the entire series: Age of Longbow Volume I, Crusades: Book I, Crusades: Book II, and the Sword & Siege Demo.

In the Crusades titles, ladder losses now use a graduated scale based on the severity of the melee result. The latest follow-up changelog also lists fixes for defender isolation, the SoLoud sound engine, AI Objective handling, indirect fire targeting, and a PDT file crash, as well as updated documentation. Other titles in the series have their own fixes and adjustments; see the individual changelogs for details.

Getting the updates

The updates are available through Steam and from the Musket & Pike update page and Sword & Siege update page. The update pages include the current files and changelogs for each title. We recommend finishing ongoing games before installing an update, particularly PBEM and multiplayer matches.

As always, if you have questions, drop us a line at the Help Desk and we’ll be glad to help. Enjoy the updates!

    Thanks for the updates!

So, are you going to eventually backlog all the games onto Steam? I still have a ton of them… mostly on disk. :) Yeah, that’d be great.

Sounds like a good update, and I’m excited for the Steam Workshop! I’m curious about the changes to the ai’s objective handling, what does that entail?

Excellent! I look forward to seeing what others produce using the Workshop!!!

@Joseph: Yes! When you purchase a game from the WDS Store, you also receive a Steam key, provided the game is available on Steam (such as ARW, CRU 1 & 2, etc.). Simply redeem that key on Steam, and the game will be added to your Steam library, giving you full access to Steam features, including the Workshop and its user-created content.
